Dental Implants
Missing teeth often has a profound impact on a person’s self-confidence and can be associated with a negative self-image. Losing teeth is associated with ageing and general health decline as well as thoughts of guilt for neglecting one’s teeth. With this in mind, dental implants have revolutionised dentistry and the role dental rehabilitation plays in restoring well-being. Dr Leinkram has the full range of skills and experience to assist you in this process. He works closely with your dentist as well as with prosthodontists (crown and bridge specialist dentists) to restore your dentition and give you back a beautiful smile. Regardless of the status of the underlying bone, almost all of our patients with missing teeth can be successfully rehabilitated with dental implants.
What are Dental Implants?
A dental implant is a titanium screw that is secured to the bone under your gum, where your teeth once were. During the initial 6 to 12 weeks after placement of the implant, the surrounding bone grows against the surface of the implant. The implant will then be able to be used to support a false crown and can look and feel like a natural tooth. When multiple implants are placed at the same time, false teeth can be supported immediately. A well-known example of this is the “All on 4” for patients who have all their teeth missing in one or both arches.
Where multiple teeth are missing, Dr Leinkram will use the minimum number of implants required to ensure you achieve your goals.
